Parochial Reports

The Parochial Report established by our Constitution and Canons is a tool for the collection of data that is intended to assist the Church in planning for mission. The “new” parochial report form launched in 1999 with only 40 questions is the beginning of what we hope is a better form yielding better information from more of our parishes and dioceses. The use of web technology is another important development in our efforts to make this a useful tool and not one more task.

Over the months and years ahead we will be focusing on two major issues involving the report. The first will be to improve the quality of the data base. To that end, workshops on the subject of filling out the report will be held on an ongoing basis around the country. We are also working to continue the significant progress that is being made in both improving compliance and the timeliness of submission.

The second area of focus will be on developing ways to return the data to you in ways you can put it to use. Currently, your data in raw form is available going back to 1998. For information about how you can obtain it, contact Donna Alexis-Earvin at dalexisearvin@episcopalchurch.org. Further, we are investigating ways to provide statistical reports to every parish that will enhance planning for the future while understanding the present. We will keep you abreast of plans as they develop.
