Donald Whipple Fox, ITTI Executive Director
Did you know that ITTI works with the Episcopal Church to award scholarships to theological and undergraduate students? That’s right, ITTI has been offering scholarships to Native American students involved in the Episcopal Church since 1996. This past spring, the Indigenous Theological Training Institute of North America [ITTI] and the Domestic and Foreign Mission Society [DFMS—that’s one of the legal names of the Episcopal Church] awarded almost $30,000 to ten Native American students. Awards ranged from $600 to $12,000 to attend local community college programs and ordination programs [like the Niobrara School for Ministry in South Dakota] to 4-year accredited colleges.
If you want to know more about applying for an ITTI/DFMS scholarship, contact the ITTI office at MinneapolisFOX@aol.com or by calling 1-800-818-0466. Just let us know what program you are planning to attend and ask for the appropriate scholarship application. The due date for ITTI scholarship applications for classes that begin in the WINTER of 2009 or SPRING of 2010 is Tuesday, October 27. Applications for classes that begin in the SUMMER or AUTUMN of 2010 will be due in April of 2010.
